Sunday’s Be Happy Challenge:

– Favorite Photo of You Smiling. –

I hate pictures of myself.  Maybe it’s because I need want braces and a boob job.  (There’s my birthday list, honey…)  But, for the last Be Happy Challenge post for June, here’s my favorite pic of me smiling.

This was taken at my little sister’s wedding.  I love this picture because I actually have a real smile on my face!  I’m infamous for my “fake” photo smiles… You know – the ones where someone with a camera says, “Smile!,” so you paste a quick smile on your face, and then as soon as they’re finished taking the pic, you wipe it off really quickly?  Yeah, that one.  Well this is a real smile!  I’m so happy for my sister and new brother, and this day was a happy one in the midst of several darker ones for me.

Today’s Be Happy Challenge:

– Pick a Pin, Do It and Share. –

Ah, Pinterest… You know… The new internet crack that has us thinking we can do the impossible?

We’ve all fallen victim to Pinterest.  In fact, so many of us have that there’s now a website dedicated to our epic fails.  It’s called Pinterest Fail – Where Good Intentions Come to Die.  If you’ve never seen it before, definitely check it out.  It’s hilarious!

So for today’s post, I was supposed to pick a pin from Pinterest that I like, do the same as the pin, and share my disaster results.

You know I love photography, so all the cute photo ideas on Pinterest automatically catch my eye.  Sometimes it’s difficult to come up with new photo poses and creations, so I’m thankful when Pinterest can get my imagination working.

I saw this pin under the heading of “Cute Photo Ideas,” and I thought that it would be just perfect since we have four kids, as well.

From Pinterest:

How cute is this photo?!

I enlisted the help of the kids to help me recreate this adorable pin, and here’s our result:

As you can see, this is where my good intention came to die a miserable, slow, painful death.  Not quite as cute as the pin, is it?  Nope.  In fact, it’s a little bit creepy.

And during the entire reproduction, all I heard was this:

“Don’t let your balls get on me.”

“I can’t breathe. You’re squishing me.”

“Get OFF of me.”

“I am NOT putting my thumb in my mouth.”

“Stop breathing on my neck.”

“Why does it feel like you’re trying to hump my leg?”

“Eww, your hair is wet.  Get it off me.”

Yep.  That’s what I heard the entire time I was trying to get one good duplicate photo for my pin.  It’s a good thing Pinterest doesn’t guarantee results… I guess we won’t be using our Pinterest photo idea for Christmas cards this year, huh??!

And now, on to my search for my next brilliant Pinterest reproduction…

Saturday’s Be Happy Challenge:

– Your Favorite Photo You’ve Taken (or Top Three Ten). –

Gosh, this one is really difficult.  As you know, I love taking photographs, and I have thousands… of my kids, of my family, of the places I’ve visited, of the fun things we’ve done, etc.  I have so many photos I love that it’s really hard to pick only three ten.  I was able to narrow the thousands down to ten, which I believe is quite an accomplishment, even though I’m cheating a little bit.  Here they are:

I love this photo because I think it really captures the beauty of Charleston, which I’m proud to call home.

Again, Charleston boasts so much natural beauty that I never get tired of taking it all in.

I love this photo because it shows Gerald’s natural athletic ability.  Whatever he does, he tries his best at, and he’s his own worst critic.  He loves to win, and he’s a natural in every sport he plays.

This photo is priceless to me.  Anyone who knows Gerald and Ronald, knows they’re usually at each others’ throats.  Instances like this one are rare, and I appreciate them beyond explanation.

Ronald is a natural when it comes to pitching, and I love this photo because it really captures his intensity and concentration.  When he concentrates on something, that little tongue comes out, and you know he’s focused!

This is a beautiful photo to me.  It shows my two children and two step-children enjoying the beach in a rare moment when they’re all calm and peaceful.

This photo is great because it shows the kids’ silly sides.  The giggles that went along with this photo were amazing!

Go Gamecocks!  You all know that there’s nothing I love more than an SEC football game.  To me, this photo shows the love we Gamecock and SEC fans have for the game.

I love this photo because it captures Ronald’s innocent side and love for the outdoors.  He’s usually such a prankster and jokester, that it’s nice to see this side of him once in a while.

This photo shows the beauty of St. Croix.  Unfortunately, no photo can capture the true splendor of it, but this one gives a little sneak peak at the gorgeous water, lush landscapes, and beautiful palm trees.

Man, this was really tough.  I could go on with my favorites all day, but I’ll spare you…!
