Today’s Be Happy Challenge:
– Your Favorite Recipe. –
I love to eat. And I love to cook. Pretty good combination, right?
For today’s challenge, I’m supposed to post my favorite recipe. That’s so hard to do, considering I love cooking. And I always hate those recipes that have unusual ingredients, so then you have to go out and buy some crazy expensive spice that you won’t use again until you make that same meal.
In an effort to not do the same to you, I’m going to post a recipe that’s super easy, all the spices come prepackaged, and the end result is delicious.
McCormick has a fairly new product called Recipe Inspirations. These are recipes that include prepackaged and premeasured spices and seasonings used to make whatever particular recipe you choose, and they include a collectible recipe card. You buy the meat and whatever other ingredients are required, but there’s no more buying an entire jar of expensive spice when you only need a teaspoon here and there.
I’ve tried nearly all of their recipes, and they have all been great. For the recipe I’ll share with you, I’ve chosen their Apple and Sage Pork Chops.
This recipe makes four servings, takes 15 minutes prep time, and 20 minutes cook time.
1 package of McCormick Recipe Inspirations Apple and Sage Pork Chops, which includes the following 5 spices:
1 ½ teaspoons sage, rubbed
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
1 teaspoon thyme leaves
½ teaspoon allspice, ground
½ teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon salt
4 boneless pork chops, 1-inch thick
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
2 red apples, thinly sliced
½ cup apple juice
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1. Mix flour, all of the spices, and salt in a small bowl. Sprinkle both sides of pork chops with 1 tablespoon of the seasoned flour.
2. Heat oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add pork chops; brown on both sides. Remove from skillet. Add onion; cook and stir 3 minutes or until tender. Add apples; cook and stir 2 minutes.
3. Stir in juice, sugar, and remaining seasoned flour until well mixed. Return pork chops to skillet. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 5 minutes or until desired doneness.
